This is to make sure all athletes can take part in a safe and fun environment and to be given the chance to experience the feelings of enjoyment, challenge and achievement that are inherent to the sport. If you have any questions regarding this policy, please contact the Freedom Tri Safeguarding Officer at Duckndash@gmail.com.<\/p>\n<p>The purpose of this policy statement is:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>To protect children and young people who attend the Duck N Dash or other events managed by Freedom Tri.<\/li>\n<li>To provide volunteers, as well as children and young people and their families, with the overarching principles that guide our approach to child protection.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>This policy has been drawn up on the basis of legislation, policy and guidance that seeks to protect children in England in accordance with the guidelines set out by triathlon England Child Protection unit in Sport [CPSU], which is a part of the NSPCC.<\/p>\n<p><strong>We believe that<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Children and young people should never experience abuse of any kind. We have a responsibility to promote the welfare of all children and young people, to keep them safe and to practise in a way that protects them and allow them to take part in sport in a safe and fun environment.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Photography of Children at Duck N Dash<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The Duck N Dash Aquathlon takes place at Letchworth Outdoor Pool and around Letchworth common. Both areas are open to the public at the time of the event.<\/p>\n<p>The following guidance will be applied and relates to images recorded of under 18\u2019s on any device managed by Freedom Tri. Freedom Tri can not manage members of the public in attendance, nor photography taken by spectators. Parents, Carers &amp; Members of the public who are not part of the event may be taking photographs for personal use, which is acknowledged by Parents &amp; Guardians of under participating athletes under the age of 18.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"page\" title=\"Page 2\">\n<div class=\"layoutArea\">\n<div class=\"column\">\n<p>Guidelines are in place with the aim of increasing the safety and wellbeing of children and for the avoidance of the following potential sources of child abuse:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Using the images for child abuse purposes, or adapting and modifying them for this purpose<\/li>\n<li>The potential identification of a child from their personal information and the possible grooming which could occur as a result<\/li>\n<li>The potential identification of children that have been recognised as being at risk for reasons including:<br \/>\n&#8211; Having been removed from their family for their own safety<br \/>\n&#8211; Restrictions on parental access following the separation of parents o Being a witness in legal proceedings<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Photographs taken by Freedom Tri Guidelines<\/strong><br \/>\nAll photographs published by Freedom Tri will:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<ul>\n<ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Focus on the action and, where possible, be a group shot<\/li>\n<li>Be action shots that demonstrate the spirit of the sporting activity<\/li>\n<li>Not be made available if the athlete\u2019s swimwear or trisuit are ripped or displaced (including unzipped) in the reviewed image.<\/li>\n<li>Only publish photographs of athletes outside of the pool, who are in swimming costumes, if they are above the waistline<\/li>\n<li>Be reviewed prior to publishing to ensure they meet the above criteria<\/li>\n<li>Be managed through the appointed Safeguarding officer<\/li>\n<li>Be removed\u00a0at the request of\u00a0Parent or Guardian within 24 hours of receiving the request.Please email Duckndash@gmail.com with any questions or\u00a0 image details.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/ul>\n<\/ul>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Image use<\/strong><br \/>\nPhotographs will be taken at the event for the purpose of sharing with participants as a memento of the race. Wide or group shots may be used on social media or for promotional purposes.
